The Arab Therapy platform, which provides digital mental-health services in Arabic and is powered by artificial-intelligence technologies, announced that it has successfully closed a new Pre-Series A financing round of $2 million. The round was led by Manara Ventures, with investment participation from Anara Impact Fund and Value Makers Studio (VMS). The financing is intended to support the platform’s strategy of developing its technology solutions and expanding its services for individuals and companies across the region.
The platform was founded in 2021 by Jordanian entrepreneurs Dr Tariq Dalbakh and Hikma Al-Hassi; its idea and initial establishment originated in Jordan, and it now operates from Berlin, Germany. Arab Therapy aims, through its technology services, to fill a large and vital gap in the mental-health care sector for more than 400 million Arabic speakers worldwide, a population that suffers from a shortage and limited availability of specialized psychological services tailored to the cultural and linguistic environment, despite growing demand and a continuous need for such digital services.
Arab Therapy provides comprehensive mental-health services under an integrated Arabic umbrella, including live online psychotherapy sessions overseen by licensed and qualified specialists and consultants, a library of specialized educational content on mental-health issues, and the development of Arabic-language artificial-intelligence tools. The clinical and medical framework the platform relies on is directly supervised by specialists and experts affiliated with the University of Hamburg in Germany to ensure the application of the highest medical standards.
The platform operates on a dual business model that combines direct services to individuals (B2C) with services for institutional and corporate clients (B2B), allowing it to offer psychological counseling to Arabic-speaking individuals and to provide mental-health care and support programs for employees of companies and commercial customers. The platform has set priorities for using the new funding to execute rapid, direct expansion plans within the Saudi Arabian market and across the broader Middle East, focusing on broadening its AI-enhanced offerings and applications in the mental-health sector.
The new investment round aims to accelerate regional expansion and strengthen the technical capabilities of AI tools customized for mental health. This financing milestone continues the platform’s investment-growth trajectory; in April 2024 it closed a seed round of $1 million, led by Flat6Labs and with participation from the Vision Health Pioneers program and accelerator, reflecting investors’ ongoing support for the platform to meet rising needs in the Arab region.
