YouTube and Amazon partnership opens in-video shopping in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt

YouTube announced the expansion of its affiliate marketing program to include content creators in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, a step that allows viewers to purchase products displayed directly from videos, Shorts and live streams. The first phase of the initiative launches in partnership with Amazon as the platform’s first commercial partner in the region, with announced plans to add local and international retailers in later stages.

The new program lowers the financial qualification threshold for regional content creators to just five hundred subscribers within the YouTube Partner Program, allowing small and medium channels to begin earning early revenue by tagging Amazon products in their videos and receiving competitive commissions when purchases are completed. The commissions are not limited to local sales; they also cover viewers’ purchases from anywhere the shopping system is available, freeing content creators from waiting for complex sponsorship deals that were previously reserved for large accounts.

Automation of documentation and integration of television screens into the instant purchase cycleThe platform relies on Google AI technologies for automatic recognition of products appearing in videos and suggests appropriate tags, cutting down the manual hours that content creators previously spent inserting and updating links. In addition to mobile phones and computers, the platform has expanded the purchase path to include smart TV screens via a Quick Response code displayed on the screen, allowing viewers to scan it with their mobile device and complete payment in the Amazon store without leaving the video.

This move is based on massive consumer behavior in the Arab world, with platform data revealing that over forty million users in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates performed shopping-related searches on YouTube during June 2026 alone, while global shopping-content viewing time exceeds forty billion hours annually. These figures are supported by a survey conducted by Kantar, which showed that ninety-four percent of viewers in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates consider the platform to offer the best educational product content, eighty-five percent affirmed its superiority in product reviews, and eighty-six percent expressed confidence in content creators’ recommendations when making purchase decisions.

Restructuring the retail sales path and competition challenges for local storesThis integration shifts the purchase decision path from traditional search on e-commerce engines to direct interaction the moment a product is seen in a live demonstration. For companies and brands operating in the Gulf and Egypt, the gamble is no longer limited to booking traditional advertising spaces; it now requires building a direct presence within affiliated platform catalogs and linking supply chains to smart tag systems, otherwise purchase traffic will automatically flow toward the current exclusive partner’s inventory.

For content creators and regional marketing teams, the benchmark is moving toward new skills that combine precise product presentation with real-time consumer behavior insight. Reducing friction between watching a product review and completing a one-click payment reshapes e-commerce economics and content creation in the Middle East, placing other retailers under pressure to accelerate their technical integration with video platforms to keep pace with new distribution channels.
