China captures 97 percent of humanoid robot shipments as Beijing roadmap moves embodied AI to mass production

The 2026 World Robot Conference concluded its sessions in Beijing's Economic-Technological Development Area after five days of discussions and exhibitions that clearly reflected the accelerating transition of embodied AI and humanoid robotics from laboratory prototypes to production lines and large-scale field deployment.
The annual report issued by the conference's main forum on the humanoid robotics industry for 2026, which focused on five major countries including China, the United States, Germany, South Korea, and Japan, showed a marked surge in global supply volume.Total shipments of Chinese-manufactured humanoid robots surpassed 40,000 units during the first half of 2026 alone, lifting China's global market share in this sector to about 97 percent, reflecting a massive manufacturing concentration across supply chains and assembly components.
The conference featured more than 3,000 exhibits and technical innovations across industrial manufacturing, emergency rescue operations, public services, and safety precautions. Participating companies and institutions also unveiled 44 new technologies and solutions, including embodied world models and integrated chips combining high-level processing with motion control functions, alongside international delegations from Saudi Arabia, the United States, South Korea, and Ecuador, as well as 40 international exhibiting companies and over 10,000 foreign visitors.
Among the event's outcomes, organizers announced the launch of the Global Robotics Application Exploration Plan, which aims to collect use-case requirements worldwide and select 1,000 scenarios annually for free trials and secondary hardware development, seeking to build an open and mutually beneficial innovation ecosystem for the industry.
The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area capped the event by introducing the 'Beijing Robot Scope' initiative, an operational plan designed to accelerate the development of 100 specialized, deployable robotic products and promote their application across 1,000 specialized fields, while speeding up mass manufacturing to reach 100,000 units of embodied AI robots and a production capacity of one million sets of core components, backed by a 12-square-kilometer pilot manufacturing zone providing comprehensive support for research, production, application, and safety.
This shift presents enterprises across logistics, warehousing, public utilities, and petrochemical sectors in the Gulf and Egypt with a new operational reality. Chinese manufacturing chains capturing the overwhelming majority of field deployments means software integration standards and hardware connectivity protocols will largely be governed by specifications emerging from East Asian production lines. Moreover, the availability of 1,000 annual trial scenarios offers local engineering teams a practical avenue to test field automation tasks without incurring the full capital expenditure of asset acquisition before proving the economic viability of deployment.
