The cost of prospecting for customers and cleaning sales databases becomes an operational burden that drains revenue teams in tech companies, as employees spend hours manually searching across websites, job platforms, and business networks. At the TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 conference, Floker announced its intent to open-source its independent customer database by early 2027, after completing rigorous security reviews, allowing sales teams to have a self-driven prospecting engine that builds customer records without relying on closed cloud-based deposit platforms.

The startup, founded in 2024 and staffed by only eight employees, achieved annual recurring revenue exceeding $1.2 million with growth approaching tenfold over the past year, and now serves more than a thousand clients, including Burblicity, Wise, and Angel List. The platform was founded by Shivaam Mahajan, a former engineer at Kindler, and Zahida Islam, a former data scientist at Access Capital, who launched with $2 million in seed funding led by the F7 fund affiliated with Burblicity, IN 49 B, Tidal Venture Partners, and Denis Yarat.

The company's actual launch stemmed from a modest browsing tool that revealed a silent gap in data management. The founders began by adding a Chrome extension called Super Chat to take notes and summarize information via ChatGPT accounts, but they noticed that large enterprises use it to manually filter CRM data because corporate standards for record updates are lacking. This discovery prompted the company to shift toward building a fleet of AI agents that conduct research on behalf of sales teams, relying on more than 100 external data sources, and applying a sequential audit methodology to verify email addresses and phone numbers across multiple providers until usable data is obtained.

Automation of research reduced the time to find prospective customers by up to seventy percent, according to user reports. The agents do not stop at retrieving contacts; they continuously monitor the web to log any changes as soon as they occur, whether an executive moves to a new role, receives a promotion, or a target company announces a funding round, with updates reflected directly in the organization's records without manual human intervention.

The decision to open-source the code was driven by two core factors: the small team's inability to service the steady demand on the closed platform, and large enterprises' desire to host their sensitive customer data locally for protection and to build custom solutions on top of it. Nonetheless, the platform continues to postpone a public launch until early 2027 to complete security audits, given that the databases contain sensitive commercial records of institutional clients that require heightened technical caution.

This shift has a direct operational impact for sales leaders and operations managers in the Gulf, Egypt, and the broader Arab region. Regional organizations, especially in financial and service sectors subject to strict data-localization regulations, often hesitate before depositing their customer data and contact logs into foreign-owned software clouds operated by third-party companies. Opening the source of the independent knowledge base gives local tech teams the opportunity to deploy fleets of agents within their own data centers and servers, redirecting sales resources from labor-intensive manual data gathering to managing automation pipelines and ensuring flow-path quality.

Our magazine tracks corporate tool transformation journeys, and we see that competitive advantage no longer rests solely on list building and number stacking, but extends to owning the code that enables agents to run within private infrastructure without compromising data sovereignty.
