Neurovia AI, an AI solutions company based in Abu Dhabi, is trying to establish a technical foothold in the Saudi market through the security infrastructure gateway, offering Saudi security and government agencies advanced software that reduces video file sizes by up to 95 percent. The step, announced by the company’s CEO Khalifa Mohammed Al-Shahi on the sidelines of the LEAP technology exhibition and conference in Riyadh, primarily aims to lower storage costs and the massive computational processing requirements of surveillance networks and cameras deployed in the holy cities to protect pilgrims and residents, as well as border guard, police and military sectors.

The technology under discussion relies on an algorithm designed to compress video while keeping all data entirely within the clients’ servers and their technical systems, including networks that are wirelessly isolated from the external internet. This compression not only provides cloud or local digital storage space, but also enables lighter files to flow at double speed through separate artificial-intelligence systems responsible for automated analysis, allowing security monitoring staff and security operations rooms to detect threats, clashes and weapons in sub-millisecond intervals, according to statements from the company’s leadership, which was acquired by Robo.ai, a Nasdaq-listed firm, in June in a stock transaction valued at $100 million.

During the demonstration the company gave to visitors of the LIP conference, a camera broadcasting a synchronized live feed was placed on two adjacent screens, one showing the original feed and the other showing the compressed feed, to evaluate the clarity of the view and the level of detail.Most attendees were unable to differentiate between the two precisions despite the intense scrutiny of the details of the displayed scenes.It is the technical indicator the company bets on to convince the Saudi government buyer of the algorithm’s efficiency in preserving operational visual accuracy while cutting the overwhelming majority of the streaming data volume.

However, the path to securing official contracts in sensitive networks within Mecca and Medina or border systems still faces precise requirements tied to technological sovereignty and localization. Saudi authorities are strict about regional companies that serve the Kingdom operating from within its territory, and they set stringent standards on the flow or inspection of vital recordings by any external party.The Emirati company's response to security and sovereignty concerns was unequivocal: it does not retain any security recordings, and its system can operate in a format where the data never leaves the kingdom.Tasked with conducting an operational proof of concept in a single organization to open the door to broader adoption of the model.

This shift carries clear strategic implications for infrastructure management teams and technology and data officers across the Gulf. The success of deep compression algorithms at 95 percent in isolated environments changes the financial equation for any organization that operates thousands of surveillance cameras, whether in oil facilities, airports, or large urban conglomerates. Relying on such processing directly reduces inference computing costs and computer-vision servers, eases the load on internal networking, but it also requires cyber-security leaders to have deep auditing skills in algorithm code to ensure that no visual frames leak beyond the protected network perimeter.
