Zeedida and Fas Limited launch edge-AI platform in Saudi Arabia with local processing and unified branch devices
Zeedida, a company specializing in edge-AI platforms, signed a distribution and strategic partnership agreement with Fas Limited, aiming to bring its edge-computing management platform to government entities, enterprises and commercial sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a view to later expansion across the Gulf Cooperation Council states. Under the agreement, Fas Limited, which was founded in the Kingdom in 2024, will handle hardware supply, multi-source system integration, field operations, ongoing support and training of local technical staff, while Zeedida will provide the software platform for deploying, securing and managing applications across distributed edge environments. The two parties will showcase their joint solution at the LEAP 2026 conference in Riyadh.
The first joint solution between the parties focuses on AI-enhanced visual analytics at branch offices and remote sites. The architecture relies on edge devices equipped with graphics processing units to run computer-vision model inference and process camera streams locally, ensuring continuous monitoring and alert transmission even if broadband connectivity is lost. This approach addresses the challenge of moving large volumes of visual data to a central cloud, as operational decisions are made directly at the field site without the latency associated with data transport across networks.
These devices do not only run AI models; they also integrate networking and cybersecurity functions within a unified virtual environment.The platform enables firewalls and multi-path connection management across local, wide-area and cellular networks to run as virtual workloads from third parties on the same device, reducing the need for separate hardware at each branch. At the same time, the environment is centrally governed to enforce security policies and manage the device fleet, with both companies confirming that application hosting and programmatic control remain entirely within Saudi Arabia.
Company officials, including Osama Al-Ridwan, regional sales director for Saudi Arabia at Zeedida; Bilal Abdul-Rahman, country manager for Fas Limited; and Ernesto Benike, vice-president of Zeedida for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, state that the true value of AI in the physical world is realized only when it operates efficiently and reliably across thousands of real-world sites and under harsh operating conditions. The partnership aligns with massive investments in digital infrastructure and the goals of Vision 2030, as organisations seek to bring intelligent processing closer to their actual activity locations rather than confining it to remote data centres.
This shift imposes a tangible technical and regulatory reality on infrastructure managers and IT teams across the Gulf region.In terms of cost, merging networking and security functions with edge inference reduces expenses for purchasing and maintaining separate hardware at remote sites and branches, as well as lowering the bandwidth consumed for data sent to the cloud. In terms of skills, the shift requires system engineers to go beyond merely linking cloud APIs and to develop hands-on expertise in managing fleets of virtual edge devices and updating models in the field. Keeping control and data within the Kingdom’s geographic scope also provides a practical solution that meets data-sovereignty requirements and compliance with strict national frameworks.
