The organizing committee for the 2nd International Workshop on Deep Learning for Big Biomedical Data Analytics (DL4BBDA 2026) has issued a call for research papers ahead of the event in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The workshop will be held in a hybrid format allowing both in-person and digital participation, in conjunction with the IEEE BigData 2026 conference from December 14 to 17, 2026.

The workshop comes in response to rapid growth in biomedical research innovation, and the resulting generation of increasingly large volumes of data that require exploration, analysis, and processing using advanced artificial intelligence algorithms. Deep learning is attracting wide attention for resolving complex problems across multiple domains, given its capacity to train mathematical models on massive datasets and achieve superior performance compared to traditional machine learning algorithms, making it a central focus of discussion among scientists and researchers in academia and industry.

The workshop tracks focus on the latest scientific and applied developments, welcoming research contributions in the analysis and processing of biomedical signals such as EEG, EMG, ECG, and EOG. It also covers medical image processing across modalities including CT, MRI, fMRI, PET, SPECT, and DTI.

Submission tracks extend to disease diagnosis and early detection, particularly epileptic seizures, Alzheimer's disease, and sleep disorders, as well as epidemic surveillance and forecasting, biometric systems, and biomedical engineering. Topics also include health informatics applications such as public healthcare, e-health, m-health, and telemedicine, alongside brain-computer interfaces, neurorehabilitation engineering, and the use of generative artificial intelligence models in biomedical research and related applications.

Submission guidelines specify that authors may submit full research papers of up to 10 pages, or short papers of 5 to 7 pages including references, provided all submissions follow the double-column formatting standards of the IEEE Computer Society. The workshop requires electronic submission in PDF format via its online submission system, with accepted peer-reviewed papers to be included in the IEEE BigData conference proceedings and made available to the scientific community on IEEE Xplore.

The workshop, chaired by Professor Larbi Boubchir of the University of Paris 8 in France, has set October 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM Central Standard Time as the deadline for paper submissions. Authors will receive acceptance notifications on November 4, 2026, with camera-ready submissions due by November 25, 2026, ahead of the workshop sessions in December.
