Apple Builds Agentic Siri into the Operating System

What happened: At its Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC, on June 8, Apple unveiled a comprehensive rebuild of its assistant, turning it into Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence. It includes contextual awareness of onscreen content, cross-app data retrieval, visual intelligence built into the camera, and Private Cloud Compute, which processes complex requests on secure servers without storing user data. It requires A17 Pro chips or newer, and initial language support is limited to English.
The lens: The economic transition lens: Apple is turning privacy itself into a competitive tool and a model for institutional governance, while setting off a global device upgrade cycle that will quickly reach Gulf markets. But Arabic's absence from the first wave raises a question the region knows well: when a product is not built for a market from day one, that market must build for itself. This gives sovereign Arabic models an additional commercial rationale, not only an ideological one.
