Longevium is preparing to open a dedicated artificial intelligence research lab at Dubai Science Park in the fourth quarter of 2026, following a 7 million dollar funding round. The facility places the first private research operations under Dubai's newly established regulatory authority

The lab's launch comes within a new regulatory environment unavailable just months ago, following Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's issuance of Law No. 17 of 2026 on June 10, which established the Dubai Authority for Regenerative Medicine and Healthspan under the chairmanship of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, with Helal Saeed Al Marri chairing the board of directors. The new authority is tasked with licensing and overseeing the sector's entire value chain, spanning research, clinical trials, and manufacturing through to clinics and patient treatment, in a regulatory framework designed to separate rigorous scientific practice from unverified claims while strengthening the city's position as a hub for the discipline.

The lab's announced research agenda covers a broad array of tracks relative to its 7 million dollar funding round. It spans developing patient digital twins based on Yamanaka factors, a biological age platform, AI scanning devices for skin cancer detection, tissue engineering, advanced cellular therapies, and robotic diagnostics such as swallowable imaging capsules and smart lenses that analyse ocular fluids, alongside noble gas therapy including methane, xenon, argon, helium, and krypton. In our reading, these ambitions resemble a broad statement of intent, and the first operational year will reveal the two or three tracks that secure actual hiring budgets.

Longitudinal data accumulated from thousands of patients forms the lab's core asset

To build its models, the lab relies on data assets drawn from three clinics the company operates across Jumeirah 3, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and Jumeirah Village Circle, staffed by roughly 100 doctors and specialists and having served over 30,000 patients. It also draws on software already deployed in practice, such as the Doctor Deep clinical AI assistant and a biological age calculation system. While this base provides a rich record for model training, the sample's confinement to private clinic clientele in Dubai, who are largely working-age and either insured or able to pay out of pocket for preventative screenings, imposes constraints on generalising findings to broader populations.

The announcement did not disclose the investors in the funding round, nor did it specify the target size of the research team, details expected to become clear as operations begin. The move highlights the contrast between two Gulf models: Abu Dhabi's sovereign approach, where M42 integrates Emirati Genome Programme data with Oracle Health records and invests in Juvenescence, and Dubai's commercial approach, built on a dedicated licensing authority, science parks, and private clinics generating their own data. The real test of the new lab's viability will lie in its ability to publish peer-reviewed, citable scientific methodologies, rather than merely marketing clinical services.
