Meta AI Starts Executing Tasks Across Email and Calendar in Select Markets
Meta AI moves from answering to planning, connecting to email and calendar and running tasks. The rollout has begun in select markets, with no regional date set.
What happened: On July 24, Meta said its assistant Meta AI, powered by the Muse Spark 1.1 model, can now draw up plans, connect to email and calendar apps, create presentations, and carry out repetitive tasks. The rollout of these capabilities has begun in select markets inside the app and on the website, and will later reach additional countries and interfaces, including WhatsApp.
The lens: soft power This is a late signal, within a 72-hour window, of competition shifting from answer quality to owning the everyday interface that sees a user's appointments and sources and acts on their behalf.
Who is affected: Users of personal assistants, teams piloting agents, and providers of productivity and digital-commerce apps.
What it means for the region: Listing WhatsApp among the coming interfaces makes tracking availability important for the region, but Meta did not specify in its announcement which countries are covered now or when regional availability will arrive. So an organisation should not build a sensitive workflow on a feature whose local availability and data controls it has not confirmed.
