Britain moves AI leadership to the centre of government

What happened:On July 24, the British government announced a new AI taskforce chaired by Patrick Vallance. The AI minister will lead its work and attend Cabinet meetings. Vallance will report directly to the prime minister, while the taskforce will direct and implement the government’s strategy and accelerate AI adoption in the public sector. Responsibility for the AI Security Institute will also move to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Office.
