Pinnacle, a Saudi-based investment firm affiliated with the Wattar Partners network, has launched a new venture capital fund focused on growth-stage companies and secondary market opportunities in the Kingdom. The fund's strategy centers on direct investment in Saudi technology companies through two parallel tracks: participating in primary funding rounds and executing secondary transactions. The goal is to provide investors with access to established growth companies while injecting additional liquidity into the venture capital ecosystem to support its activity and financial stability.

The launch comes as the venture capital market in Saudi Arabia undergoes a clear shift toward greater maturity, marked by a growing base of established, profitable companies reaching advanced stages of growth. Despite this progress, Pinnacle notes that access to dedicated growth capital and exit opportunities for investors and founders remains limited compared to advanced global markets. This dynamic has created a noticeable gap between the maturity of the startup ecosystem on one side and the infrastructure for liquidity and exits on the other.

The fund seeks to bridge the funding gap by combining growth capital injections with the facilitation of secondary market transactions.Through this dual approach, the fund's investment mechanism facilitates capital recycling and enables early shareholders to monetize their stakes, while providing promising companies with the cash liquidity needed to scale without relying exclusively on traditional funding rounds, supporting the sustainability of the investment ecosystem and the development of its financial instruments in the local market.

The fund's investment strategy spans specific technology sectors that the firm views as long-term growth drivers. In fintech, the company identifies expanding opportunities driven by rapid regulatory developments and the ongoing shift toward digital financial services. The strategy also targets companies positioned to benefit from Riyadh's transformation into a global hub, including technologies and services linked to housing, mobility, real estate development, and urban services in line with urban expansion and demographic growth.

In e-commerce, Pinnacle has identified substantial room for expansion, given that digital commerce penetration in Saudi Arabia remains below levels recorded in advanced global markets, offering businesses in the sector significant scope to grow their market share. The fund is also directing attention toward health and lifestyle companies, driven by growing public health awareness that is lifting demand for preventive care services and related technology solutions, establishing a diversified portfolio that supports the broader economy while providing flexible liquidity options for companies and the wider ecosystem.
