What changed: On July 19, Middle East AI News published a new analysis of GulfTalent data covering 118,000 direct-employer jobs in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. According to the data, AI skills or tools appeared in 3.4% of professional jobs advertised in the first half of 2026, compared with 1.2% in 2022. This does not mean most of the market has become technical. Demand remains highly concentrated, approaching one in three jobs in the technology sector, while falling to one in 100 or fewer in sectors including construction, retail, healthcare, education and hospitality.

What it means for you: The most important signal is not simply the number of jobs building models. GulfTalent's classification of a sample of 420 AI-related jobs found that about a third require the use of AI within the role, another third focus on implementing and deploying solutions, and a quarter involve selling AI products and services. Fewer than one in ten involve building and training models. If your career is in sales, marketing, product management or consulting, practical familiarity with the tools has become a demonstrable skill, not a generic line on a CV.

Who is affected: Demand is clearly growing in technology, banking and audit, and appears more often in leadership positions. About one in 12 leadership roles mentions AI, compared with about one in 30 individual contributor roles. Candidates in slower-moving sectors are also affected, because an early advantage may emerge before demand broadens.

The practical takeaway: Choose one process from your current work and document how you used an AI tool to reduce time or improve quality, with a before-and-after measure and clear limits for human review. Put this case study in your CV or portfolio instead of merely naming the tool.
