Staff Analytics Engineer for product behaviour measurement at Salla in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Saudi platformSallais looking for a Staff Analytics Engineer to own the foundational layer behind every metric the platform tracks on merchant and buyer behaviour. The role is not about building models, but about building the foundation that makes models trustworthy.

The role:Staff Analytics Engineer for product behaviour measurement, within Salla's AI and data analytics department, full-time from Jeddah in the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia. The role is on-site, not remote.

The core challenge:You will own the event taxonomy, tracking plans, schemas, and identity model, along with the validation tooling that keeps them reliable. The job description is candid about a rarely acknowledged point: the hardest part of instrumentation is not designing the schema, but getting one hundred engineers to actually adopt it. The role therefore embeds the engineer directly within the development lifecycle itself, across product requirements documents, design reviews, and pull requests, rather than on the receiving end after data has already been recorded incorrectly. The stated goal is that every behavioural metric traces back to an event intentionally designed, documented, and monitored.

Key requirements:

  • Six or more years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, product analytics architecture, or software engineering, including at least three years directly owning event instrumentation and tracking.
  • A proven track record of designing an event taxonomy and tracking plan from scratch, and driving engineering teams to actually adopt them.
  • Hands-on experience with event collection platforms or customer data platforms such as Segment or Jitsu, and product analytics platforms such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, or GA4.
  • Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with dbt, along with modelling high-volume event data in a columnar data warehouse such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Working knowledge of streaming architectures such as Kafka, including delivery semantics, deduplication, and late-arriving data.
  • Production fluency in at least one language among TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift, PHP, Go, or Python, sufficient to conduct meaningful code reviews on tracking-related pull requests.

Stated preferred qualifications include working proficiency in Arabic, prior experience in the Gulf region, and a background in e-commerce or multi-tenant platforms.

Salary:Undisclosed.

Practical step:Before applying, write a one-page summary of an event taxonomy you designed or fixed, describing the event that was incorrectly recorded, the metric that was misleading as a result, and how you persuaded the engineering team to modify the code. This specific narrative is what the role is looking for, rather than a list of tools.
