Samsung Starts PM1763 Production for Faster AI Servers

Samsung Electronics announced on July 8, 2026 that it had begun mass production of the PM1763 enterprise storage drive, a PCIe 6.0 SSD designed for AI and high-performance computing [HPC] servers. The company says the product uses ninth-generation V-NAND memory and a new 4-nanometre controller, with improvements for liquid-cooled environments.
The PM1763 is available in 4, 8 and 16 terabyte capacities. Samsung says the 16 terabyte version reaches sequential read and write speeds of up to 28,400 and 21,900 megabytes per second, more than twice the performance of the previous PM1753 generation. The company also said transferring a 40 gigabyte large language model [LLM] takes about 1.4 seconds and that energy efficiency has improved by more than 1.8 times. It supports post-quantum cryptography [PQC] algorithms and the TDISP protocol to secure data paths in virtualised environments.
