Senior AI Quality Engineer at Foodics, Cairo (remote)

A week ago Foodics in Riyadh posted an entry-level job for an AI Quality Engineer building agents. The new posting, listed for Cairo and to be done remotely, raises the bar: the company now wants someone who owns a complete testing system, from APIs to the mobile app to the card reader on the restaurant table, then adds a layer of agents that read the changes, run tests, and suggest fixes.

Role:Senior AI Quality Engineer at Foodics, based in Cairo, Egypt, working remotely as advertised, part of the technology team and the quality assurance department for the restaurant management product. Foodics is a restaurant management and payments platform founded in 2014, headquartered in Riyadh, with offices in the UAE, Egypt, Jordan and Kuwait, and says in its announcement that it serves customers in more than 35 countries and its products have processed over 6 billion orders.

Primary challenge:The role has two layers. The first is test automation covering the entire product: API, contract and backend integration tests, web tests using Playwright with visual verification of right-to-left Arabic interfaces, mobile tests using Appium or Maestro that include offline app behavior and payment-device flows that only break on real hardware, plus performance, load and continuous integration pipelines where a red build indicates an actual failure. The second layer is artificial intelligence on top of that: generating tests from specifications, code and production traces, classifying every failure before a human opens it (real defect, flaky test, or environment issue), agents that read code differences, reproduce the defect and open a pull request themselves, and evaluating AI features in Arabic and English according to regional tax and payment rules. Notably, the posting also asks candidates to judge when a traditional pipeline is preferable to an agent, and to be bold in saying so.

Key requirements:

  • Recent experience building production systems based on large language models that real users rely on, with proficiency in Python and at least one of.NET, Java or TypeScript.
  • Owning an automated test suite that controls versioning on the backend and on a web or mobile interface, and being able to explain how it remained green without removing the hard tests.
  • Hands-on experience building evaluation systems, with metrics showing the system improved, and knowledge of the limits of the “model-as-judge” approach (LLM-as-judge).
  • Practical depth in orchestrating agents: multi-step planning, tool use, memory, isolated execution, and tool-linking standards such as MCP.
  • Strong fundamentals in test design, frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, and the posting does not require a prior quality-assurance title.

Salary:Not disclosed. The posting mentions a competitive compensation package that includes bonuses and the possibility of equity, along with an annual learning budget.

Practical step:The posting evaluates candidates by what they have used rather than what they claim. Prepare a single example from your work describing a test suite you managed, its flakiness rate before and after your intervention, and how you measured improvement of the evaluation system with numbers. If you lack mobile or payment-device experience, state clearly where you stand and how you would close the gap.
